Today was just lovely. No one is sick...no fevers...no vomiting...perfect weather (for NE).
This may not seem exciting to everyone, but it was the perfect first day of spring. Lillie and Beretta helped me take in the recycling (I'm really trying to recycle everything we can feasibly recycle...cardboard, plastic jars, and glass...and we give our aluminum cans to a neighbor boy who is saving to take his family on vacation) and mail to the post office. The rest of the day was spent answering if every item we saw could be 'recycle' or if it an item was 'trash'.
Since we can now play outside without concern of frostbite after 10 minutes, we have rediscovered our swing set, slide, and sandbox. We were covered in fun (chalk, sand, water and dirt). I thought 90 minutes of play would tire them out, but Lillie crawled into her stroller and told me 'walk Beretta'. So, off we went! It is so good to see her feeling well again.
She helped me 'cook cake and chocolate' (banana bread with chocolate chips...recipe is on my blog from April 2007). Lillie banged the two eggs together and I have no idea how, but only one egg cracked. Last week, we made brownies and we had to measure the liquid ingredients twice...not a big deal, but eggs have really gone up in price!
Our other exciting discovery today was Legacy milk (made in a local creamery using only milk from local dairy farmers). We saw a segment about this company on the local news last night and in our desire to try to support local business, we had to try this milk. We are hooked. Its not that much more expensive than other milks, and if we return the glass bottle to a store, we'll get a deposit back.
